This included, among other things,160 pairs of new socks, 42 hats and 38 pairs of gloves. They were very appreciative of all the donations but were especially excited about the socks and gloves which they immediately put out for distribution. The drive continues through March 31st. Thank you to everyone in the community for their support and generosity in making this happen.

Holiday Gifts Delivered to Mercy Learning Center
Recently, several TCW members spread holiday cheer by delivering gifts to families of Mercy Learning Center (MLC)’s students. MLC offers free literacy, life skills, career, and early childhood education to disadvantaged women in the greater Bridgeport area. Thanks to Gail, Duly, Nannette, Liz F, Liz T, Tracey, Jo, Tina, and Sandra for purchasing items on the children’s wish lists! In addition to the items in the photo, many more items were ordered on Amazon and delivered directly to MLC.

Holiday Basket Delivery
Holiday giving at its best! On December 8th, our TCW team delivered gifts, essentials, and gift cards to Trumbull Social Services for our adopted family. A huge thank-you to everyone who donated and to Mary, Vicki, and Terri for organizing. Wishing this sweet family the happiest holiday season!

Thanksgiving Basket Delivery

Veteran’s Day Annual Breakfast
On November 11th, the Trumbull Community Women once again hosted a heartfelt breakfast buffet for local veterans before the Veterans Day assembly at Trumbull High School. A number of club members contributed by baking a variety of delicious pastries for the event, ensuring there was enough to also share with the Trumbull Police Department, Trumbull EMS and Library Staff. This annual tradition continues to be a rewarding experience, as it brings the community together to honor and show appreciation for those who have served.

Cake Kit Donation
On November 3rd, 22 birthday cake kits were delivered to the Trumbull Food Pantry made by TCW members. The kits contain cake mix, icing, birthday candles, balloons, a cake tin, and a can of soda (in case the family doesn’t have eggs or oil.). All families should be able to celebrate their birthdays.

Halloween House Decorating Contest – Results
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your entries in our Halloween House Decorating contest. We truly appreciate the hard work and time put in to decorate your homes for Halloween. Each entry makes Trumbull a bit more “spooktacular” for our community.
A big thank you, also, to our judges who had the difficult task of selecting just 3 winners – 15 Sport Hill Road, 9 Raynor Avenue and 9 Southgate Road. Congratulations!
We encourage everyone to participate in this contest next year. Thank you for being a part of our Halloween festivities!

Giving Tree Drive – School Supplies Donation
Trumbull Community Women’s Giving Tree recently wrapped up our School Supplies Drive to benefit Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport. Mercy provides free literacy and life skills education to low-income women and their children, helping families build brighter futures through education. The Center currently serves over 500 women and nearly 60 children in its Early Childhood Education Center. Many of the women come to MLC to learn English so they can support their children in school and often continue on to earn diplomas and pursue further education.
Thanks to everyone’s generosity, we collected approximately 480 items valued at $900! These donations will help give MLC’s dedicated learners and their children the tools they need to start the school year strong. Mercy Learning Center was deeply appreciative of our continued support and the kindness of our community. Thank you to everyone who contributed!

Semi-annual Free Shredding Event
Trumbull Community Women hosted our semi-annual Free Community Shredding Event on Saturday, October 18th at the Trumbull Nature & Arts Center. This event is sponsored by the Town Fair Tire Foundation, the philanthropic division of Town Fair Tire. While the shredding is free, donations are greatly appreciated. The proceeds go back to the community in the form of grants, scholarships, community events, financial assistance, etc. Thanks to the generosity of the community, we had another successful event!

Diaper Drive to Benefit Mercy Learning Center
On October 8th, TCW generously donated nearly 800 diapers to Mercy Learning Center to support its residents. Mercy Learning Center offers free literacy and life skills education to low-income women in Bridgeport—many of whom are mothers experiencing diaper insecurity. Some visit the center weekly to receive diaper disbursements. Access to free diapers allows these women to redirect limited financial resources toward other essential family needs, all while working toward economic self-sufficiency through education.

Storywalk & Rock Painting Event
On September 24th, TCW and the Trumbull Public Library co-hosted a reading and painting adventure for kids ages 4-8. Christine, Trumbull Library Children’s Librarian, read “Chooch Helped” by Andera L. Rogers aloud as we went through the story walk. Then the kids let their imagination run wild as they painted rocks which will subsequently be put along the Story Walk. One lucky child won a copy of the book, which TCW donated, as a door prize.

We had a beautiful day on September 20th for our food drive at the Trumbull Stop & Shop to benefit the Trumbull Food Pantry. We collected donations from 10 am to 2 pm at both entrances of the grocery store. The donations, which filled two vehicles, were delivered to the Trumbull Food Pantry on Monday, September 22, by two members of our Families in Need team. It was another great Trumbull Community Women team effort!

Trumbull Arts Festival – Children’s Creative Tent
Sunday, September 14th was a beautiful day for the Arts Festival, especially at the Children’s Creative Tent, where imagination and hands-on fun took center stage! Children spent the day making crafts, filling the tent with color, creativity, and laughter. Smiles lit up the faces of young artists—and the young at heart—as they proudly shared their handmade creations. TCW is always proud to host this joyful event and deeply appreciates the continued support from our wonderful community. Thank you for being a part of it. See you all next year!
Giving Tree Drive – Toiletry Donation
TCW recently completed its spring Giving Tree Drive collecting toiletries for the women and children of Mercy Learning Center in Bridgeport. We collected 260 items totaling approximately $700. Among the items were 44 toothbrushes and 84 bars of soap. Pictured below are Mary Hurley and Danette Tur delivering the items to MLC’s Development Associate, Jennifer Sanchez. When asked to explain the impact the donation was going to have and she wrote:
“In Social Services, our goal is to connect students with local resources so they can focus on their education and finish the semester strong. For many, the rising cost of basic necessities—like toiletries—creates real challenges. These everyday items aren’t always easy to come by, and without them, it can be tough to stay on track. By easing some of these financial pressures, we help students meet their basic needs and continue their studies with fewer distractions. At MLC, students have access to our onsite diaper and food pantry. This gives them the essentials they need to focus on what matters most— their education.”

Once dinner concluded, our outgoing President Duly gave a lovely speech recounting the events of the year, and thanked all the members for the privilege of being their President. She then gave appreciation gifts to the outgoing Board members. Next, Andrea recognized Kiran and Tina for their 5-year anniversaries and Sandra for her 10-years in the club. Sandra was also recognized as Member of the Year. Next Sandra delivered a heartfelt speech thanking Duly for her extraordinary leadership, and presented a printed photo book featuring pictures from every event over the past 3 years, a gift card to Ecco, and a thank you card signed by members. Sandra symbolically passed the “immediate past President” baton to Duly in the form of a customized baton. Next, Debi installed the incoming Executive Board, absent were Susan D. and Anna who were each traveling at the time. Each box is thoughtfully packed with engaging items such as crayons, chalk, letter and number tracing cards, LCD writing tablets, and so much more — all designed to help prevent the “summer learning slide” for children ages 3 to 5. We are grateful for the opportunity to support the growth and development of our community’s youngest learners.
